Good TACTICS Deliver Great Results
Tactics are those actions and strategies that are carefully planned out to achieve a specific result. The word is synonymous with the military, especially during times of war. Military units carry our specific actions to achieve specific results.
Olympic athletes used tactics during training to ensure their body can operate at maximum capacity. They have a very specific result in mind when they train.
Speakers use tactics to direct an audience they are presenting to towards a specific goal as well. Sometimes it is to make a purchase, sometimes it is to motivate others into taking their own action.
Businesses use tactics to gain customers or clients as well as tactics to keep them.
So, how to we know which tactics to use?
Tactics are universal.
That seems like a breath of fresh air, doesn’t it?
TACTICS are those concepts that are:
Thought out
Action oriented
Catchy
Tested
Invisible
Credible -and have-
Staying power
When all these elements go into your plan, these good tactics, will achieve great results. Developing good tactics takes time, effort, awareness, and motivation.
Thought out.
Before a strategy can be implemented it must be thoroughly thought out. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be complete. But it must be thorough. The nooks and crannies must be thought through. The entrance and exit strategies need to be thought through. How many people will it take to achieve results must be thought out.
Action Oriented.
The best results are achieved when achieved by actions. Actions create motivation. Motivation fuels results. If you want great results, there must be consistent actions. Actions will only be successful, when they have been thought through.
Catchy.
Tactics that are catchy, like this acronym for example, work because they are easily remembered. If you are a sports nut, you might know that plays are often shortened numbers or words that everyone knows. The military uses acronyms for everything. Marketing is full if catch phrases. The catchier something is, the better.
Tested.
For a tactic to work, there must be some testing. The best tactics are the ones that work. The ones that work are the ones that are tested.
Invisible.
This one may seem a little interesting, however the best tactics are the ones that are used, implemented, perhaps felt, but not seen. Think of the best sales tactics in business. In the military, it would be detrimental if the enemy know the tactics. The same in sports. Business is no different.
This is not about secrecy or shady practices it is about making your tactics feel like they are a seamless part of what you do and who you are.
Credible.
Credibility is important in business. Having credible tactics will ensure that your values, ethics, morals, and other practices that are who you are will not become compromised. Credibility is built through relationships. Credibility is built through consistency.
Staying power.
The best tactics are the ones that you use over and over. This is the essence of sustainability and a thriving business. This is where legacy is constructed.
What tactics do you currently have in play in your business? Do you have a sustainable, thriving business? Would you like one? Would you like to take your business to the next level? Let’s talk.
